From a baby’s first smile to walking, talking, and playing, development happens at a different pace for every child. But what milestones should parents be watching for, and when might a delay be worth discussing with a doctor? In this episode, we break down infant and toddler development from newborn through age 5, including gross motor, fine motor, speech, language, and social-emotional milestones. We also talk about developmental red flags, premature babies and adjusted age, tummy time, crawling, walking, speech development, and when early intervention may be helpful. The most important thing to remember: development is a progression, not a race. If you have concerns about your child’s development, talk with your healthcare provider.
